The Summerschool is a residential outward bound trip over 5 day (4 nights) for children and young people of schools, colleges and academies, developed by QES Consulting.
The Summerschool aims to provide an opportunity for children and young people to:
have experiences that would allow them to understand the natural world,
have a better understanding of who they are and what this means when they are with others and above all else,
have FUN!
Recent Summerschool attendees have stated that the Summerschool served to support, educate and inspire them.
The Summerschool is usually held at one of two sites. The first is Kench Hill which is located in rural Kent, the bountiful garden of England. There are numerous visitor attractions and educational sites within an hour’s journey time. Inspirational gardens, historical monuments, picturesque villages, farms, orchards, beaches and a variety of natural habitats all provide exciting, stimulating and memorable trips. Some places charge an entrance fee, but many are free of charge. Kench Hill has National Trust membership for free entry to National Trust sites.
The second site is held at Viney Hill Adventure Centre which is on the border of England and Wales. We will be staying in their Old Vicarage which has been converted for use as a residential centre. It is a three storey building with bedrooms on the two top floors. Each landing has dormitory style rooms, a leader’s room, and toilets and showers. Downstairs there is a comfortable lounge/dining room and spacious kitchen. Outside there is space for children to play and chill out, there is also a firepit with seating around.
QES Consulting also offers family and community Summerschools as well.
